How can we ensure safe artificial intelligence?

Of course we can start with rules, regulations and limitations, legally and technologically. But rules will always be incomplete and, more importantly, rules will always be broken.

Our society will undergo fundamental transformations due to AI. Into which direction do we want to motivate these transformations?

A mindset shift.

Instead of trying to formulate what AI must not do or what it needs to be safe, let's formulate what the outcome should be for us.

We want holistic regeneration. We believe that resolving the current crises will need nothing less than a collective cultural enlightenment.

Advanced, self-reinforcing AI has the potential to create the most fierce fights over systemic power imaginable. Not AI will harm humans, but humans harm humans.

To survive AI, humanity thus needs to learn how to become ultimate collaborators instead of ultimate competitors.

So far, this was infeasible. Either ideologies divide. But even when not, there was simply no unified way to match one person's needs to another person's offerings.

But LLMs and vector embeddings change everything.

We believe that AI, no matter how "intelligent" it will actually ever be, is never inherently good and "safe" or bad and "unsafe". It is a neutral tool like a knife, where a knife can also be used to kill or to help cooking delicious meals.

So let us use AI to strategically strengthen each individual's intellectual immune system against the dangers of AI itself. We believe that we can use AI to assist us in creating structures focused on holistic well-being, which foster emotional resilience, emotional maturity, interconnection and self-determined thinking and thus naturally protect us against the dangers of AI.

After all, genuine "Safe Superintelligence" is not magical: Intelligence + Safety = Conscience.

Humanist AI will be for AI what positive psychology was for psychology.

Let's make AI become delightful for humanity.

Every philanthropic project needs capabilities and resources.

No matter whether it's on the hyperlocal or the global level: Money, land, ecosystem, logistics, conflict resolution, art, design, love, motivation, expertise, risk management, legal and regulatory setup, technology, and so much more.

To get started, we focus on exactly two of those: money and conflict resolution.

Weaving the first two threads together

The Golden Thread

Our vision is to index every existing non-profit and philanthropic funding opportunity, organization and tender in the world, no matter how large or small. Free, open source, open data, GPL, multilingual, accessible from the very beginning. Effortless matching of ideas to tenders. Automated assistance in making ideas feasible and verbalizing them. Semantic matching and Socratic inquiry using LLMs.

No person with a brilliant vision for the common good should be held back by complex bureaucracy to acquire funding, ever. And instead of creating yet another monolithic system from scratch, this time it will be fully peer-to-peer, just interconnecting parts that already exist. Because there is no lack of money, there is only lack of connection.

The Thread of Agreement

As soon as money is involved, decision-making becomes especially sensitive.


We thus aim to create platforms to deeply facilitate hyper-flexible, fundamentally participatory decision structures and deliberative democracy, based on the ideas of Polis. Bringing political empowerment to every group, from small teams to entire societies. Making "having a voice" productive and pleasurable for everyone by meaningfully clustering vast opinion spectrums using LLMs to give representatives optimal, nuanced, rapid advice for policy- and decision-making.

The practice and associated education program will start at a self-replicating hub near Berlin, funded through the Thread of Wealth.

Hermes' Loom does not only synergistically weave these threads together for others, but it is also woven from these threads itself.

This means: Together with developing and offering its results openly to the entire world, it will use The Golden Thread to fund itself and the Thread of Agreement to resolve conflict and find agreement among the people working on it.

Further threads will follow as we will start integrating other semantic domains.

The symbology

In Greek mythology, Hermes is the messenger of the gods, a symbol of communication, knowledge transmission and interconnectedness of fates.

In this context, Hermes represents the central guiding intelligence and orchestrating force driving regenerative societal transformation. It illustrates the focus on facilitating communication, coordination, and the seamless flow of information, resources, and ideas.

A loom is a device used for weaving threads together into fabric, symbolizing the interconnectedness of various elements. Here, the loom metaphor refers to the systems or platforms being created to weave together the many threads of societal transformation—starting with philanthropic wealth distribution and conflict resolution—into a cohesive whole.

The concept of weaving implies that AI will be used to interlink different parts of society, fostering collaboration and ensuring that individual needs and collective resources are brought together harmoniously.
