In short, we want regenerative societal transformation towards holistic well-being, which we see as the next fundamental step in human evolution overall. For a rough explanation of that, see here.
Hermes' Loom is a philanthropic organization established in November 2024. In contrast to traditional philanthropies, it leverages startup techniques and a deep tech focus to kickstart and boost its growth and impact, delivering unprecedented agility, responsiveness and effectivity.
Ongoing projects include: - The Golden Thread is like "Tinder for Philanthropy": A digital platform which globally democratizes philanthropy by making all of the world's open funding tenders accessible to everyone through intelligent matching, coaching for feasibility and assistance in executing projects for the common good. - The Dreams platform is like "Kickstarter meets Democracy": A revolutionary open-source crowdfunding system that democratizes funding allocation by giving community members a transparent and accountable way to fund and manage projects, while automating reimbursements and tax compliance, and empowering users to decide how resources are distributed. - Synthetic Loom is like "Scratch for AI": An open source low-code platform, runtime and TypeScript-based software stack bundling many AI-related APIs (e.g. OpenAI, Anthropic, Zyte, ElevenLabs, vector databases etc.) in one common library and thus making prototyping and sharing implementations of semantic analysis algorithms as easy as never before. - Ultimate Collaboration is currently just a list of links to projects which specialize in at least one of the areas to be covered by Hermes' Loom, as well as related practical educational material.
The other projects linked to in the header are still conceptual works in progress.
Intended areas of work
Hermes' Loom intends to cause interconnected systemic improvement through the following funds:
- Radical Democracy Fund (how LLMs and semantic matching can be used to advise politicians based on opinions obtained and clustered in real time to truly give back power to the people) - Architectural Ecology Fund (how nature and building homes for humans can work in synergy, especially inspired by "A Pattern Language" by Alexander et al.) - Restorative Justice Fund (how individuals and societies can heal discriminatory structures, both on the individual level, e.g. narcissism, and on the systemic level, e.g. prohibitive and traumatic practices) - Sanctuary Fund (how to build resilient and empowering physical communities) - Emotional Intelligence Education Fund (how people of all ages can cultivate empathy, resilience, emotional self-reflection, self-efficacy, mutual empowerment, and overall well-being) - Cultural Revitalization Fund (how ancient and modern mythological frameworks and practices can be seen as a compass towards what we are actually longing for) - Peak Experience Fund (how to create and facilitate events, experiences and environments which foster awe and connection)
- Interconnection Forum (responsible for identifying synergies, overlaps, similarities, collaboration opportunities and high-level insights emerging from projects from all the funds mentioned above) - Impact Evaluation Forum (kind of the "supervisory board" of HL, researches how to measure the impact on subjective well-being of all stakeholders involved in the different projects)
